This is an update of the original render that I posted last year. Created in Maya and rendered with mental ray. This time I did some post work in Photoshop to enhance the image.
The scene was created in Maya and rendered with mental ray. Due to the size and complexity of the scene, importance sampling with irradiance particles was used instead of Global Illumination and Final Gather, which drastically improved render time. I was asked to write an article entitled "Creating Detailed Urban Scenes" for the March 2015 issue of 3DCreative, in which I discuss my process for creating the image. 3DCreative Issue 115, page 92-97.
